Krav Maga Beginner Classes

Krav Maga Yashir Beginner Classes
Next Beginner Class,
Our 60-minute beginner/introductory Krav Maga classes have two aims: firstly, to introduce you to the Krav Maga approach and methodology, and secondly to give you the necessary skills to join our regular classes, should you decide to continue your training (there is no pressure to do so, and if your goal is to just get a firsthand understanding/experience of Krav Maga this class/session will meet that need).
Krav Maga differs from other martial arts and combat sports in that it is founded upon concepts and heuristics and is not defined by its techniques. In traditional martial arts, such as Karate and Kung Fu, the “self-defense” techniques are contained in the forms/katas (the prescribed and defined sets of movements that practitioners have to learn). Because violence can change, Krav Maga must be able to evolve, whether that is to provide solutions to “new” threats and attacks, or whether more effective techniques for dealing with existing threats/attacks can be developed etc. This means Krav Maga has to be flexible and open to change (this is one of the reasons Krav Maga Yashir Head Instructor, Gershon Ben Keren, returns to Israel, and brings in other Krav Maga instructors to teach seminar i.e., to keep the Krav Maga Yashir system up to date). In this 60-minute Krav Maga seminar you will be introduced to some of the most significant concepts/heuristics and see how they are practically and physically applied.
In the class/seminar you will be introduced to the “drills” and “games” that are used as a warm-up in order to get people in a state to engage in more serious physical exercise. Our warm-up period doesn’t contain push-ups, sit-ups and other calisthenics, but is designed to develop fighting skills and abilities that are necessary to get the solutions/techniques that are taught to work. You will learn basic movement, blocking and striking skills and get to practice these things dynamically with a partner. Whilst this introductory seminar is taught at a slower pace than our regular Krav Maga classes it is a physically active session.
The cost of the seminar is $25, and it is held at our studio, which is around five miles south of the center of Wilmington, Massachusetts (address below). Our studio/training facility offers free on-site parking.
We are a fully matted studio and so training is conducted barefoot. You should wear loose, comfortable gym style clothing without zips or studs etc. Street clothes and jeans are not appropriate clothing for training in, because this class does involve physical contact. Pre-registration is required using the form below.
